So You Think You Have No Time For A Home Business? By Becca Lee It's true that most people are very busy, but extra time for some sort of project such as a home can almost always be found. It may be that you have to give up a few of your favorite things, such as having a couple of beers with the guys after work, or watching three or four hours of TV. But if you succeed with your project, you will have the time and the money for whatever you want to do.
Efficient time management means planning what you are going to do and then making up your mind to do it. Here are a few tips:
1. Make a list of what you want to accomplish tomorrow before you go to bed tonight.
2. Schedule your trips to the store or wherever you need to go to coincide the other things you need to do, and with your trips to and from work. Organize your trips to take care of as many errands as possible while you are out of the house.
3. Pay attention to the amount of time you spend on the telephone and eliminate or shorten the length of time spent on calls that aren't really necessary. This applies to that ever-growing email list as well. Do you really need to be on every mailing list on the planet?
4. Take care of all the mail as you receive it. Don't let those bills and letters pile up on you. Answer your letters the same day you get them. The same goes for bills. If you can, pay them as they come in. If you can't, make yourself a file in an easily accessible place and mark your calendar.
Once you really start to get going in your home business, you should work it exactly as you have organized your regular day-to-day activities on a time basis.
Do what has to be done immediately. Don't plan to get something done in a hour that's actually going to take all day. Plan out on paper what you need to do-what you want to do-and when you are going to do it. Then get right on the projects without procrastinating.
Taking stock of the time you waste each day and reorganizing your activities-that's what it's all about. It's a matter of making more efficient use of your time. This is really not that hard to do and you will not only accomplish a lot more, you will be a much happier person.
The secret of all successful people is simply that they are organized and do not waste a lot of time. Think about it. Look at your own activities, and then see if you can't find a couple of extra hours in each day to be more constructive.
Finally, and above all else, when you are organizing your time and your business, be sure to set aside some time for relaxation. Make sure you schedule time to devote to your family and friends. You must not involve yourself in your home to the extent that you exclude people-particularly your loved ones, from your life.
As far as what kind of home to get into you are going to have to make that decision for yourself. Please try not to base it on inaccurate information-you probably won't care for the consequences. Make sure you get the whole home story from well-informed sources.
Now you can be a confident expert on home business. OK, maybe not an expert. But you should have something of value to bring to the table next time you join a discussion about having a home business.
